3 Ways You Can Give Back this Holiday Season (for Dixon residents and supporters)

Help us send a little love to the Dixon community this holiday season, and consider donating to a good cause! We are collaborating with three local groups for the holidays, and hope that you’ll join us on our jolly journey. Check out 3 charitable events that you can participate in this year to give back to our community!

#1- 11th Annual Dixon Kiwanis Club Festival of Trees

What's better than handmade ornaments? A fully decorated tree! You can purchase yours at the Dixon Kiwanis Club Festival of Trees. Since 2008, the Dixon Kiwanis Club has hosted the Festival of Trees Fundraiser, where local businesses sponsor Christmas trees that are decorated by volunteers. The decorated trees are auctioned off during the event. Proceeds go to support local groups, such as the Dixon Family Services, TEAM Dixon, Boy Scouts, Dixon High School Band, the Kiwanis Family House, and more.

This year, we are excited to collaborate with a local Cub Scouts chapter to decorate a large Christmas tree. The Cub Scouts have prepared camping-themed handmade ornaments. Check out some of the ornaments below!

Enjoy the beautifully adorned trees along with hot cocoa, cookies, and performances from local singers and dancers. Admission is free and takes place on Saturday, December 7th from 2pm - 9pm and Sunday, December 8th from 10am - 6pm at Veteran’s Memorial Hall (1305 N First St in Dixon, CA). While you're there consider participating in the silent auction to buy your fully decorated Christmas tree.

#2- Dixon Toys 4 Tots

Donate to a local toy drive! We are participating in the Dixon Toys 4 Tots (more info below)...

  • Dixon Toys 4 Tots provides for about 250-300 families (about 800-1100 people, 500 of them kids)

  • They only provide for Dixon 95620 residents, in particular they make sure that candidates that do not have food get priority (but all who come get served)

  • Every single coat that gets donated goes to someone and gets used

  • They give out approximately 800-1000 coats a year

This is what they are looking for this year (in order of importance):

  1. Coats (most important) >> new or lightly used, all sizes/styles (fur lined coats are highly requested for special needs children)

  2. Blankets >> new or lightly used, many kids did not have their own blanket and share with siblings

  3. Shoes >> all sizes

  4. Socks >> all sizes

  5. Games >> something for the whole family to play during the Holidays

  6. Toys >> new and unwrapped, all ages

We are a drop-off location! Bring your donations to 1650 N. Lincoln St in Dixon from 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday (we are CLOSED for Thanksgiving 11/28-11/29). Please bring all donations by Monday, December 16th!
