Are you about to graduate from college, or looking to pursue a new career? Consider becoming a Stormwater Inspector! Typically, a successful candidate has their QSP or QSD certification (what is that? Click here). However, for those who are hardworking and willing to learn and grow with us, we’ll provide the proper training to obtain those certifications. Read on to learn more.


So what do our Stormwater Inspectors do?

Inspectors check out construction sites and write reports that help the contractor of the project adhere to water quality regulations. A typical day in the life of an Inspector looks like this:

  • Wake up around 5-6AM

  • Check the weather

  • Leave for work 6-7AM

  • Calibrate equipment

  • Drive to jobsites for inspection

    • Walk the entire site

    • Take pictures

    • Note potential sources of pollution

    • Sample & test flowing stormwater

  • Contact contractors to review inspection notes

  • Converse with regulatory personnel

  • Educate clients about stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) & regulations

  • Prepare & file reports based on inspection photos & findings

  • Clock out around 3-4PM

What’s it take to become a Stormwater Inspector?

Anybody who’s willing to train on Stormwater Management requirements can become an effective Stormwater Inspector. Here’s what we like to see:

  • High School Education Required; College Preferred

  • Proficiency with Computers Required

    • Typing

    • Microsoft Office

    • File Management

    • Gmail

  • Extensive walking on construction sites is required (sometimes in inclement weather)

  • Driving long distances to/from/on construction sites & a good driving record is required (sometimes in inclement weather)

  • Excellent Communication & Customer Service Skills Required

  • Construction-Related Experience is a Plus

  • QSD, QSP or Stormwater Certifications are a Plus

How much do our Stormwater Inspectors make?

Depending on a candidate’s education and experience, TCG Inspectors start around $25 per hour. Tully Group also provides the following for Full Time employees:

  • 10 days vacation leave annually
